Sick and Injured Birds

We regret that we (and the RSPB in general) are unable to help you deal with sick, injured or orphaned birds; that's a matter for the  RSPCA (Emergencies & Cruelty hotline: 0870 5555999), or an animal rescue centre.

Cruelty to Birds

If you see birds being mistreated, including:

  • damage to occupied nests

  • violence (including targeting with air rifles or stone-throwing)

  • poisoning

  • illegal trapping

or if you suspect such cruelty, then please contact the local police, and ask that the matter be brought to the attention of the Wildlife Liaison Officer. Be sure to obtain an incident number, in case of query. Contact details for the police in Merseyside are:
