An excellent  start to the year at a local coastal venue. Excellent close up sightings of Oystercatcher, Turnstone and Sanderling were worthy of note. Airborne flocks of waders were as always a sight to behold. the final two species seen, Bar tailed Godwit and Coal Tit brought the outing to a successful conclusion.

A fairly quiet visit along an old railway line passing through suburban Liverpool. Common Gullls were abundant, as were Goldfinches and Long Tailed Tits. A Greater Spotted Woodpecker was a fitting finale to the outing.

A slow but steady start to a renowned area. First highlight of the day was a superb sighting of 2 male and female Bullfinches. Numbers of Goldeneye and Tufted Duck were worthy of note, as was a large skein of Pinkfooted Geese flying overhead. A Marsh Tit at the feeding station, and a Great Spotted Woodpecker brightened up the afternoon.

A quiet but rewarding trip to a new local venue on the Wirral. Shortly after the start we saw three Buzzards and a Sparrowhawk circling together high in the thermals. Two of our summer visitors were seen in the form of Chiffchaff and Swallow, a welcome sight on a warm and sunny day. Resident species highlights seen were three types of Sparrow, plus Lapwing and Goldfinch.

A trip to another new local venue on the The Wirral. A small total in species seen perhaps, but nevertheless one of quality. Close up sightings of a Treecreeper, and an aerial duel between a Buzzard and a Crow were the morning highlights. However, the star turn was after lunch when observing a woodpecker coming and going from its nest with  food for it's young. Pure magic!

A trip to a  well known National Trust Estate. The meeting got off to a an excellent start with sighting of a Kingfisher, shortly followed by  observing Treecreeper toing and froing to its nest with food. However, shortly after was the undoubted highlight of the trip, the sighting a  Green Woodpecker, soon to be followed by that a  a juvenile Gt Spotted Woodpecker.
