LIVERBIRD WILDLIFE DISCOVERY CRUISE
Thursday 18 August 2005, Thursday 1 September and Thursday 15 September 2005

Join NMGM and R.S.P.B on a 'Liverbird Wildlife Discovery Cruise' aboard a Mersey Ferry.  Go cruising along the Mersey and into the Bay to view the birds and wildlife with experts on hand to help identify the sights.
Cruise duration 3 hours.  Departs Seacombe 11.00am, Woodside 11.15am and Pier Head 11.30am.
Price Adults £10.00 and Children £5.00

INDOOR MEETINGS PROFILE FOR SEPTEMBER To December 2005.

  SEPTEMBER 19th 
To start our autumn series of lectures, we extend a very warn welcome to Keith Clarkson from the North West office of the RSPB. He will expertly describe and illustrate to us the society’s 5 Year Plan in the North West. The reasoning behind the plan, implementation and developments in our region. An intriguing yet informative evening awaits.
 

OCTOBER 17th  
W
ell its that man again! Making his now long established annual visit to us, we as always extend a warm welcome to Gordon Yates. Seabird Summer & Birds of a Pennine Forest is the title of his superb cine films tonight. One performance only, so come early to claim your seat on an evening guaranteed to please.

 NOVEMBER 21st 
Making a welcome return to us is Martyn Jamieson, head ranger at Wirral Country Park. The Farne Islands is the subject of his superb audio/visual lecture tonight, giving us an insight into the unique habitat and birdlife to be found there. An ideal tome to banish those darker evening blues!

 DECEMBER 5th  
For our concluding lecture, we welcome a new speaker to the group, Trevor Davenport. He will takes us on our only overseas trip this year, when we learn and see for ourselves just why The Natural History of South America, truly represents the wide variety of birds, habitat and wildlife that this country has to offer. An early Christmas treat awaits.

 SUNDAY 8th  MAY  SPEKE HALL NESTBOX DAY

bird boxMeet 10;30am Speke Hall, starting at 12.00. This is your chance, with some of the other volunteers, to help to introduce children to the RSPB and the passion that we all share for birds. This is a fun event and you can help in lots of ways, either helping to build and supervise the children or talking to the parents or sometimes getting drinks. The regulars will be there to support and believe me when you see children smiling at the nestbox they have made you know you have helped make a difference!!

 WEDNESDAY 11th MAY   MAESHAFN

Meet 10.3Oam in the centre of the village by the P.H. about an hour from Liverpool. Turn left about 300 metres past the Rainbow Inn between Mold and Loggerheads to Maeshafen. A visit to LNR and around Maeshafn.

 SUNDAY 15th MAY  GOYT VALLEY

Meet 10.3 Oam at the Cat and Fiddle hm on Macclesfield to Buxton road A537. This will hopefully give us a great chance to see Ring Ouzel and other moorland birds. The landscape is stunning and lets hope the day is! Facilities at the start of the walk and the end.

 SATURDAY 11th JUNE CARR MILL CIRCULAR

Meet l0.45am Garswood station, 09.35 train from Lime Street to St. Helens Central, then 10.10 Rail replacement bus to Garswood for a pleasant and easy 5 mile walk incorporating farmland, woodland, Carr Mill Dam and country lanes, also there are 2 stiles en route. A mixed habitat should produce a good variety of species. Stout footwear essential as some paths may be muddy. No facilities. Walk will end at (Jurswood station, half hourly service back to Liverpool. NOTE: Parking in the short station approach is strictly for rail users only, also Garswood is the Merseytravel boundary limit, so the appropriate Saveaway tickets etc are valid.

 SATURDAY 25th JUNE FAIRBURN RSPB RESERVE

Meet 10.3Oam at Hartshead Moor service station, just after jct 25 on the M62, allow shot lhr 30mins to get there. The reserve now has a visitor centre so all facilities will be available. Fairly easy walks, and apart from summer migrants, birds likely to be seen will include Watetfowl, Warblers and Woodpeckers.

 SUNDAY 10th JULY     STOCKS RESERVOIR

A trip to the east of the Forest of Bowland visiting Stocks Reservoir and (Gisburn Forest with a mixture of habitats. From the M62 outside of Preston take the A59 to Clitheroe, and from there take the B6478 from Waddington to Newton. Then turn right towards and passing through Slaidbuni to the car park at O.S.733565 near to the bird-hide alongside the reservoir. Further info, will be available at the AGM in April or contact the leader for more details.

 SUNDAY 21st AUGUST 1NNER MARSH FARM RSPB RESERVE

Meet 10.3Oam at the bottom of Station Road by Burton Marsh in Burton not far from Ness Gardens. This area of the Dee estuary is always interesting at anytime of the year. Passage waders to visiting Hobby and warblers. This very small RSPB reserve is a gem. Please bring your RSPB membership cards!

 SATURDAY 10th SEPTEMBER WHITEGATE WAY

Meet 1 0.3Oam at Whitegate Old Station car park making a return visit to this area of Cheshire for a walk along an old railway track with open farmland and woodland. Together with resident species, we should see late summer and early winter visitors. From Liverpool via the Runcom Bridge, take the A533 - A49 - left onto the A54, then look out for the Brown tourist sign for Whitegate Station. Allow about lhr 30mins. Toilets in car park. Paths can be muddy after ram.
