Tim Melling RSPB

JANUARY  18th        Tim Melling      Saving The Pitta

Join us for Tim Melling telling us about ‘Saving Gurneys Pitta’.  That’s not Pittas as in bread but a bird from the tropical rainforests in Thailand.  Pittas are birds which live in dark forests but they are very colourful.  With the group donation going to protecting tropical rainforests in Sumatra it’s great to know more about the birds living in them.

Jeff Clarke - Halton Conservation and Education Officer      FEBRUARY  15th       Jeff Clarke        Up the Inside Passage

We seem to have become very big Jeff Clarke fans with his 3 talk in the 6 meetings!!  Jeff will tonight take us ‘Up the Inside Passage’.  From Vancouver to South-East Alaska, from the green lushness of temperate rain forest to the stark, scoured landscape of Glacier Bay.  Leviathans of the deep, a moving landscape of ice and towering mountains.  The Pacific north-west has it all.

MARCH  15th             Alan Davies       The Biggest Twitch

Alan Davies and Ruth Miller set out in 2008 to break the world record.  Alan gave up his job as site manager of RSPB Conwy and Ruth also gave up her role in the RSPB.  Did they or didn’t they…? Come along to the talk to find out out, and hear about how they travelled the globe looking for birds and places to stay.

APRIL  19th

Its that time of year again – THE AGM!  After the formal business is out of the way, we will have a relaxing second half.  Offers of slides etc. most welcome, PLUS of course nominations for the committee will be most welcome- We need your  help - to be given to the Group Leader or Secretary by 10th April please.

SEPTEMBER  20th         John Loder            Birds of Prey

John Loder works for the RSPB promoting its latest campaign to protect ‘Birds of Prey’.  These birds you either love or hate, but what you can’t argue with is the beauty of the battle or the speed or grace with which these birds have.

OCTOBER  18th          Colin Wells       The Dee, Past and Present

Inner Marsh Farm reserve manager updates us on all the new development's at Inner Marsh farm & beyond
