INDOOR MEETINGS PROFILE FOR JANUARY TO DECEMBER 2008
Indoor
meetings are held on MONDAYS
(third
monday of the month, see dates) in the church hall of
Meetings commence at 7. 30pm and last about 2 hours with an interval for refreshments. Admission charges Adults £1 and Accompanied Juniors 60p. The admission charge includes Tea/Coffee during the interval. All donations gratefully received. There is a car park at the hall, and Merseybus routes 61 & 80 (Arriva/Merseybus) stop nearby. Mossley Hill station,on the Merseyrail City Line is a 3 min. walk away. Car parking at indoor meetings - If the car park at the Church is full when you arrive, please DO NOT park on the grass. You may park your vehicle in Mossley Hill Road. Thank you.

OUTDOOR MEETING PROFILES FOR JANUARY TO DECEMBER 2008. (& a couple of events!)
Meet 10.30am at Hightown Station (0953 or 1008 train from Central Station), for a fairly easy walk along the River Alt, continuing along perimeter of rifle range, then farmland and pinewoods, including a visit to the Cabin Hill local reserve. Skylark, Finches and Geese should be amongst species seen. No facilities, NOTE: Meeting ends Formby Station. Meet 10.45am at the Boathouse. Buses 60,61,68,82 to Aigburth Vale. A walk around a wll known local park and the riverside at Otterspool. a mixed habitat should produce an equally good variety of birds. Tiolet facilities should be available in Sefton Park. Sefton Park Palm House : 27 January 2008 Our events start at 11am and finish at 4pm. Closely observe the birds at our feeding stations through telescopes. People on hand for identification and general information on Garden Birdwatching and the RSPB. Kids colouring activities/ Make your own pine code birdfeeder to take home.
A visit to local woods. Meet 9.30am at the corner of Aldbourne Road/Woolton Road. Buses 35,75 & 81 apply. The idea of this walk is to get you more familiarised with woodland birds. This will be a short walk looking at woodland birds in their natural habitat. Species should include, Woodpecker, Jay, Finch’s, and Tits. No facilities. Muddy paths likely. A wintertime visit to a popular reserve owned and managed by the Lancashire Wildlife Trust. Meet 10.30am at the reserve. Reserve is half a mile west of Rufford on the B5246, which runs between the A59 at Rufford and A565 at Mere Brow Birds likely to be seen include woodland and water species and hopefully the elusive Kingfisher. Our annual visit to a popular North Wales venue. Meet 10.00am at the sea front promenade(90min drive from Liverpool) Birds likely to be seen include Divers, Waders and Wildfowl. 9.3m high tide at 11.05.Tiolet facilities available. Another new venue for the group. From Liverpool take M62,M61,A6053 (OS Map 109 ref:744069) Allow 60 mins max from start of M62. On the A6053 look out for the brown tourist signs. Meet 10.45 Country Park car park, Hall Lane, Farnworth. The name is not a personal name, but a corruption of the word 'mosses' meaning peaty or marshy lands, and gate is from the Old English 'gata' meaning a way across, so we have the way though the mosses (Kearsley Moss, Clifton Moss, Linnyshaw Moss etc.) This attraction is centred on three large lakes and a large area of parkland, the largest lake is reserved for migratory birds and wildlife.Their Bird Hide overlooks a wild setting of trees and bushes with a scattering of bird tables and hanging feeders that attract wild birds of many varieties This is a joint trip with the MNA LEADER: Howard Mills ( Tel:0151 226 3285 or Mobile 07710-2176630151 )

WEDNESDAY 13 & THURSDAY 14 AUGUST 2008 – LIVERBIRD DISCOVERY CRUISES
Once again we are proud to host the annual Wildlife Discovery Cruises aboard Mersey Ferries in partnership with National Museums Liverpool and the RSPB. We go cruising along the Mersey and into the Bay to view the birds and wildlife with live commentary and expert spotters on hand to answer any of your questions and point out the wildlife to be found on our River. Along with quizzes, fact sheets, art competitions and hands on exhibits this is a great trip out for all the family. These cruises are extremely popular so advance booking is necessary. The cruise departs Seacombe at 11.00am, Liverpool at 11.10am and Woodside at 11.20am. Cruise duration approximately 3 hours. Price £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for children (3-15) .. Advanced booking necessary.
Meet 9.45am at Lime St Station. A pleasant and easy 5 mile walk incorporating farmland, woodland, Carr Mill Dam and country lanes, also there are 2 stiles en route. A mixed habitat should produce a good variety of species, maybe another good view of Little Owl Great Crested Grebe Kingfisher . Stout footwear essential as some paths may be muddy. No facilities. Walk will end at Garswood station, half hourly service back to Liverpool. NOTE: Parking in the short station approach is strictly for rail users only. Meet 10.30am at the Frodsham Garden Centre on mill Lane, off the A56 (Runcorn side of Frodsham). Flat and easy walk by the River Weaver at Frodsham and surrounding area. The sludge beds are a good site for waders and passage migrants. no guaranteed facilities. LEADER: STEPHEN MENZIE
Meet 11.00am. Rufford Station. Rufford is an area of farmland but the water areas like the canal can be hidden gems. During the last 5minutes of our 2005 visit the group came across 4 different kingfishers, will we be lucky again? LEADER:
